Students with Emotional and Behavioral Disorders CAN Manage Their Own Behavior: Implications for Practice

ABSTRACT:
Self-management strategies have been shown to increase the appropriate behaviors displayed by students with emotional and behavioral disorders (EBD). Self-management is comprised of three components: self-monitoring, self-evaluation, and self-reinforcement. This article describes two strategies for implementing a self-management plan for students with EBD. An academic example is provided for a high school student with EBD in a general education setting and a social example for an elementary student in a self-contained setting.
