ABSTRACT:
RTI approaches for identifying children with reading disabilities have advantages over traditional IQ-achievement discrepancy procedures, including earlier identification to avoid a "wait-to-fail" model, a strong focus on providing effective instruction and improving student outcomes, and a decision-making process supported by continuous progress monitoring of skills closely aligned with desired instructional outcomes.
