ABSTRACT:
Visual scripts and related educational strategies provide visual or auditory cues to promote communication and social skills in children with disabilities. In particular, scripts may be useful for teachers who work with children with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders, and cognitive impairments, including those with average language skills as well as those with limited verbal skills. The purpose of this article is to suggest populations that may benefit from the use of visual scripts, provide references for those interested in reading more about visual scripts, summarize steps of implementation of visual scripts and suggest variations for implementation, and provide two examples of how scripts may be implemented.
